SUMMER JUNIOR COMPETITION 2020/2021

Surfcoast Tennis Club were happy to announce the 2020/21 Summer Season of Saturday Junior tennis begin on

Saturday the 24th of October 2020. (This date may vary for the local coast competition)

How to sign up for competition? 3 simple steps!

  1. You must register now to play Summer Competition by filling out this registration form at surfcoast tennis club. Registration must be submitted by the 26th of September via the link below.

2. All player’s must become or be a current member of Surfcoast Tennis Club. Unfortunately we cannot play club competition at The Sands as this venue is a private club. You will still be placed in teams with friends who you do lessons with at ORTENNIS but play at Torquay Tennis Courts, Spring Creek Reserve.

3. Ball money must be paid with registration and membership. The players who previously paid ball money for 2020 unplayed winter comp are not required to pay again. If you are unsure if you have already payed please contact surfcoasttennisclub@yahoo.com

What time do we start on Saturdays?

Starting times vary depending on what section your child is placed in.

Sections 1 & 2 commence from 8am - 10am and Sections 3,4 & 5 commence from 10.30am — 12.30am

Kid’s competing in Geelong competition (higher level) commence from 9am - 10.30am

We advise all players to arrive 15 minutes prior to play - if players are late the will be forfeited.

Do parents have to umpire?

Yes, If you child is playing in section 3, 4 or 5 a parent from each team is required to umpire each week.

Who managers the teams?

A nominated parent will be the team manager for the season. They will create a roster for the season as well as enter scores after matches.

4 players are required each week and usually teams have 5 - 6 players. If your unwell or unable to play you call the player rostered off to see if they can fill in for you.

The team manger will also organise the balls for home games which they receive at the start of the season.

What to wear?

Shorts or skirt with a pocket, a hat and all players are required to wear a Surfcoast Tennis Club T-shirt when representing the club you can order these via:

When can your child start playing competition?

Players must be able to hit 5 out of 10 serves from the baseline to start section 5 competition.

Your coach will be able to advise when you are ready to play.

Does competition run over the summer holidays?

No, summer competition only runs during the school terms.
